Services and Activities
The Way Back is a transitional housing program. The Agency provides room and board to residents and other services are provided based upon individual needs. All residents participate in individualized service planning that identifies areas that are needed for independent living. For example, residents may need assistance in learning to take medications independently or may need to learn how to budget money for future independent living. Services may include medication management, money management, ADL skills training, community integration, rehabilitative counseling, assertiveness training and many others.
Residents are required to participate in purposeful daily activity that is rehabilitative in nature. The Way Back works with residents and their service providers to assess appropriate daily activity.
Evenings and weekends are important times at The Way Back. Residents can relax after their daily activities, socialize with peers and practice daily living skills. Residents prepare dinner on assigned nights with staff assistance. Each evening, everyone eats together. All residents are assigned household chores and are required to complete their chore each day. Counselors provide assistance with household responsibilities and work with residents in service planning.
Recreation activities in the community typically occur on the weekends, such as going to movies, shopping trips and visiting parks and beaches. During the week, in house activities such as movie night, crafts and games are planned. During house meetings, residents are encouraged to explore and plan for recreation.
